On the opening night of PCJ Delhi couture Week 2013 ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee showcased his ‘opium’ inspired collection. The collection was inspired by 1920’s era. Variety of fabrics like khadi, tulle, velvet, lace etc. were used for the collection. Hand embroidery, appliqué, zardosi, tilla work were seen on the garments. The silhouettes ranged from lehengas, sarees, garaaras, short tops, to kurtas, flapper jackets, flapper coats and mughal coats. Vintage jewellery was used to complete the look.
The designer went bling this time. A lot of shimmer was used by the designer. There were shimmery sarees, dupattas in sombre tones of white, cream and peach. The sarees were literally gorgeous and the way he combined subtle shimmer with threadwork is just outstanding. The gold and white color palette was also beautiful. Have a look at some more pictures.
