A very warm hello to all our lovely readers! Today I am going to provide you a sneak peek into an event organised by Godrej Design Lab(GDL) on 12th to 14th February, 2016 in Delhi. The event was aimed at encouraging budding Indian designers by providing them a platform to interact with design industry leaders and manufacturers. The response from the designers was overwhelming as over 900 entries were received nationwide by GDL.
9 designs were shortlisted by GDL on the basis of originality and creativity of the products designed by the designers. Under the guidance and mentoring of Mr. Navroze Godrej, Executive Director, Strategy & Innovation, Godrej & Boyce & Mr. Hemmant Jha, Chief Design Officer, Godrej & Boyce, the designers created a physical prototype of their ideas by removing the technical flaws in the designs created by them. All the prototypes were showcased at the India Design ID held in Delhi on 12th to 14th February, 2016.
Hemmant Jha was the Chief Design Officer ?Godrej & Boyce, he has a total experience of 27 years in design and architecture. For Hemmant, design is what makes any product special. He believes that designing does more than just enhance the functional performance of a product and the idea of the design should live in the product. Hemmant is also the founder of Wheelwell, a non-profit organization dedicated for the creation of products and technologies for the people with physical disabilities, where he serves as the organization’s executive director. In the past, he has founded companys industrial design and technology development like think more and think/thing.
We would like to applaud the spirit of the designers here, the innovative and creative ideas showcased by them are very inspiring and are worth praising. Go through the refreshing designs showcased by these budding designers and you will get to know what we are talking about.
